New Aims Concept of GPS Shield for Fast Tsunami Alert

For almost two years since the biggest Tsunami happened in Asian Region, many scientist still doing some research on it. The German Indonesia Tsunami Early Warning System (GITEWS) of the Research Center for Geosciences in Postdam Germany. The most remarkable concept changing that it was offered last year is: when they take the new ground - based systems takes real time measurement of vertical ground motion - the type of fault movement more likely to produce tsunamis.

The German conception of the establishment of a Tsunami Early Warning System for the Indian Ocean is based on different kinds of sensor systems. In ca. 90 % a tsunami is generated by an earthquake but also volcanic eruptions and landslides may be the triggering events. The conception aims at achieving indicators of a tsunami and its dimension by the analysis of different measurements at a very early stage. While a tsunami wave in the wideness of the sea spreads out with a speed up to 700 km/h, in the treated region a period of about 20 minutes elapses between the wave's generation and the first contact with the Indonesian mainland. In this timeframe the sensors, which will be installed at different locations inside the considered propagation areas, are able to rapidly detect deviations from normality (anomalies).

The sensors of the Tsunami Early Warning System comprise seismometers, GPS instruments, tide gauges and buoys as well as ocean bottom pressure sensors.

In a central warning center in Indonesia remarkable sensor data immediately is verified with a multitude of pre-taylored tsunami simulations to derive and to deliver trusted warnings.

By the involvement of local scientists and technicians in the framework of the Capacity Building Programme and by targeted actions to raise awareness regarding the tsunami threat the realisation of a long-term strategy towards the prevention of disastrous losses of lifes is aimed at
GPS Land Stations are installed at the coastline of the Indonesian mainland and at the islands off Sumatra. Their main task is the detection of horizontal and vertical deformations of the earth's surface due to a strong earthquake. This can be done in a very short time and with an accuracy of few centimeters.

Both the buoys and the tide gauges are equipped with GPS instruments, too, which monitor their particular location and shifting regarding the horizontal position and the altitude.

NOKIA 500 - a New PND's

Nokia, on its GPS world issue october 2007, has signaled that it intends to be a dominant player in the location based services (LBS)

Nokia is making its presence felt in the personal navigation market and the new Nokia 500 Auto Navigation is another addition to its lineup. The first handsfree PND from Nokia, it is geared towards in-car navigation and communication. The navigation device doubles up as your Bluetooth handsfree kit for compatible mobile phones. The Nokia 500 Auto Navigation features a 4.3" wide color screen, which is convenient to view not only maps but also your contacts. Nothing out of the ordinary, it features turn-by-turn voice directions, but as an added bonus, it features text-to-speech for speaking out street and city names. POIs and the like are the usual lot on pre-installed maps, which will be based on the target market.

An interesting and useful feature is the integration between the device's navigation and communication features allowing you to receive contact details for the POIs that are en route to your destination - this lets you call in advance and make a reservation, for example.

The Nokia 500 Auto Navigation also supports Traffic Message Channel service letting you avoid jams. The useful split screen interface on the device gives additional info to aid you in navigation.

The device does not fall short on entertainnment, and comes equipped with an integrated FM transmitter. Targeted for a Q4 2007 release in Europe, the Nokia 500 Auto Navigation is expected to retail at € 300 (excluding taxes). It should hit the US and other markets after that - which may mean a holiday season release or an early 2008 release

PENDAHULUAN
Dengan diberlakukannya otonomi daerah, pemerintah daerah dituntut untuk melaksanakan pembangunan khususnya dalam hal pengelolaan potensi-potensi lahan yang masih kurang teroganisir. Dengan adanya hal tersebut dibutuhkan informasi dan teknologi khususnya informasi yang mengacu pada lokasi geografis, yang diperlukan untuk mengetahui, menganalisa dan mengelola potensi lahan di setiap daerah.
Konsekuensi dari hal tersebut adalah bahwa adanya ketersediaan sumberdaya manusia dalam pemanfaatan teknologi dan informasi untuk mengelola data dan informasi geospasial.
Sebagai bentuk peran serta perkembangan tersebut diatas, maka dalam kesempatan ini, Ikatan Surveyor Indonesia (ISI) menyelenggarakan kegiatan Forum Ilmiah Tahunan (FIT-ISI) 2007 yang meliputi seminar, pameran dan halal bihalal dengan tema “Percepatan Pendataan Potensi Lahan di Indonesia Melalui Peran Teknologi dan Informasi”. Penyelenggaraan kegiatan tersebut dilaksanakan atas kerjasama dengan Badan Pertanahan Nasional dan BAKOSURTANAL.

Awaiting this moment since 3 years ago, finally on thursday, July 26, they both signed the agreement.

In the future, users will be able to receive signals from both systems, which would allow for more precise services and wider geographical coverage

THE United States and the European Union have agreed on a common signal for use by their satellite navigation systems to provide more accurate images and information.

Both sides also said the accord would protect their common security interests. While the pact covers civilian uses, the US Global Positioning System (GPS) is military-run. Galileo has also been mooted for defence uses.

Under the agreement, the EU and US satellites will use the same radio frequency, enabling receivers to get signals from both systems and combine the data.

The United States has 30 satellites orbiting the earth, sending signals that let users pinpoint their own and others' locations with devices such as car satellite navigation systems.
The EU aims also to have 30 satellites up in space by around 2010 with a fully operational Galileo system by 2012.

Under the US-EU accord, the idea is that receivers getting data from potentially twice the number of satellites would be able to create a more accurate picture, especially in areas where reception is weak because of urban or natural landscape.

The EU's Galileo system has yet to be launched, and the benefits of the agreement would depend on makers of receivers wanting to accept both systems.
The United States is in the process of updating its GPS system - procuring new satellites that would launched into space by 2013.

What To Know Before You Buy

Glad to meet my old friends in the last two weeks. But, seamlessly, I am not a Trimble person anymore, still maniac on it but as it used to be:)

Someone ask me to buy him 3 Geodetic GPS Receiver with only US$ 12-13K, no idea, really, what kind of manufacture that can realease this offer.

Glad to meet (again) my old friend, and now he is a very prospective GPS sales person :) who over me that price even lower!!!

Can not imagine, I used to sell US$ 50K for 3 receiver and that was about 7 years ago, and I know that Trimble price will not be decreased that fast

Thinking about buy the most suitable GPS regarding to you budget and application, if I can summarize is as follows:

Is GPS for me?

GPS has many beneficial uses, from standard car navigation to outdoor recreation to finding locations of stores and businesses.
In considering what kind of GPS unit to buy, the first thing to keep in mind is that different types of devices tend to be best suited to specific types of activities (though some units are capable of crossing over into several activity types).

What type of unit should I consider?
Since your purchase will be determined in large part by how you intend to use your unit, here are some common activities that utilize GPS, along with an idea of the types of units that are suited for each:

Automotive navigation: In recent years, the most popular use of GPS has been for getting turn-by-turn directions while driving from point A to point B. With the right GPS unit, getting to business appointments, kid events (think about those weird soccer field locations), social events and vacation destinations is no longer a stressful adventure. Several types of GPS units are suitable for automotive navigation, including specialized in-car units, portables, and even GPS-equipped mobile phones.

Marine and aviation: Specialized GPS units help mariners and pilots, both recreational and professional, arrive at their destinations quickly and safely.

Fitness: Fitness buffs such as runners and cyclists often use GPS units the size of a large wrist watch. Such units can track performance, offer encouragement (via voice) and even monitor the user’s heart rate.

Keep multiple functions in mind:

Many GPS units are useful for more than one type of activity. This is true both of dedicated GPS devices, and of units such as mobile phones, PDA’s and notebook computers where GPS is a “secondary feature.” In addition, many GPS add-on devices (for plugging into laptops, for example) are available for well under $200, and include a GPS receiver and software for navigating.

How much should I spend?
You can spend about $100 to $1,000 and more. It mainly depends on the functions and features you need.

A basic handheld GPS unit will cost between $100 and $400. Units at the lower end of this price range typically have some basic navigation functionality, but usually will have monochrome displays and no background maps.

Closer to $400, you get a bright color display, background maps (depicting roads and highways, points of interest, marine navigation charts, etc.), and sometimes even a built-in barometric sensor and electronic compass. Also, some units within this price range offer roadmaps with turn-by-turn directions.

Above $400, there is a wide range of units with impressive features.

At the upper end of the scale, multi-function becomes more typical: some have MP3 players, calculators/currency converters, or the ability to display digital photos, and some can be used for hands-free calling with a built-in microphone, speaker and Bluetooth technology.

Features to consider
Once you’ve decided what you want to use your GPS unit for and how much you want to spend, it’s time to determine which specific makes and models fit you best.
If the unit is going to stay permanently in your vehicle for navigation, then screen size, sound and vehicle mounting are important. Be sure to check out screen readability attributes such as brightness, font size, map clarity and so forth from all angles. Also, vehicles are noisier than you might think. Road noise can drown out weak sound systems and make them difficult to understand. Be sure to spend time checking out the sound quality as much as possible. And bear in mind that vehicle mounting seems to be a weak point with some systems. Most units designed for vehicles have windshield mounting hardware with a suction cup. Make sure you actually try attaching/detaching in the store a few times and simulate using the mounting hardware as much as you can.

If you plan on taking the GPS unit out of your vehicle, then battery power, ruggedness and portability are very important. Batteries are expensive so make sure they are rechargeable and have a reasonable charge life (at least 8 hours of continuous use). If they aren’t rechargeable, be sure to budget for after-market rechargeable batteries and a charger. Ruggedness is a broad term, but you can usually tell when you hold something in your hand if it’s well-built. If you’re going to be carrying it around, it’s going to get thrown in a backpack, shoved in a glovebox and occasionally dropped. Items sticking out of the unit like the antenna or connectors have the greatest chance of breaking.
Other considerations include maps and software. Do included maps cover the areas and purposes (street, topography, etc.) that suit your needs? If not, are the right types of maps available, and of so, at what cost?

Arrie, My hubby, working a lot with Global Warming issues, last night we had a very nice discusion about, I am getting curious about what can I do as geomatician to help decreasing and monitoring the global warming.

My nice notebook, help me to surf through the virtual library and books, and here I conclude some of there reference I have had read about.

Carbon dioxide causes roughly 60% of the ‘enhanced greenhouse effect’ or global warming resulting from certain gases emitted by human activities. In 2000 there were almost 23 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide emitted worldwide. Of this, 28% came from North American territories; 0.09% came from Central African territories. Emissions of carbon dioxide vary hugely between places, due to differences in lifestyle and ways of producing energy. Whilst people living in 66 territories emitted less than 1 tonne per person in 2000; more than 10 tonnes per person were emitted by people living in the highest polluting 21 territories that year.

Although originally designed to measure atmospheric water vapor and temperature profiles for weather forecasting, data from the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS) instrument on NASA's Aqua spacecraft are now also being used by scientists to observe atmospheric carbon dioxide.
Scientists from NASA; the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration; the European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts; the University of Maryland, Baltimore County; Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey; and the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), Pasadena, Calif., are using several different methods to measure the concentration of carbon dioxide in the mid-troposphere (about eight kilometers, or five miles, above the surface).

The global map of mid-troposphere carbon dioxide above, produced by AIRS Team Leader Dr. Moustafa Chahine at JPL, shows that despite the high degree of mixing that occurs with carbon dioxide, the regional patterns of atmospheric sources and sinks are still apparent in mid-troposphere carbon dioxide concentrations.

Be Aware! Solar Flare on 2011 - GPS Systems Disrupted

For the last recent weeks, I am getting busy with some stuff relating to Zoning Regulation, no more time spare to read the monthly update from Newsciencits E-Zine. Really getting Surprise when I read by accident to the Newscientist newsleter a few weeks ago, try to search some source and hopefully would be useful for my blog reader :)

NOAA Space Environment Centre in Colorado, observed two giant solar flared on December 5 and 6 2007, causing large numbers of GPS to stop tracking the GPS Signal. The solar flares created radio bursts that travelled to the Earth in about 8 minutes, covering a broad frequency range and affecting GPS and other navigational systems, the researchers say. GPS is used widely by the military, scientists and civilians. Signals from several different orbiting satellites are received by ground-based instruments and used to calculate their position to within a few metres.

When solar activity peaks in 2011 and 2012, it could cause widespread disruption to aircraft navigation and emergency location systems that rely heavily on satellite navigation data.
Particularly intense solar activity occurs roughly every 11 years due to cyclic changes to the Sun's magnetic field – a peak period known as the solar maximum.
Solar flares send charged particles crashing into the outer fringes of the Earth's atmosphere at high velocity, generating auroras and geomagnetic storms.

Radio noise
Charged particles from solar flares also produce intense bursts of radio noise, which peak in the 1.2 and 1.6 gigahertz bands used by GPS. Normally, radio noise in these bands is very low, so receivers can easily pick up weak signals from orbiting satellites.
In 2005, however, Cornell University graduate student Alessandro Cerruti discovered a puzzling failure in GPS reception while operating a receiver at Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico.

Along with Paul Kintner, from the university's electrical engineering department, Cerruti traced the problem to a radio burst induced by a solar flare. They found that GPS receivers operated by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Brazilian Air Force experienced similar disruption during this burst of solar activity.
The researchers say the problem has escaped detection before because GPS systems have spread in popularity during a time of relatively low solar activity.

Drowned out

Discovering the disruption was surprising. "[Other] people will be surprised at the next solar maximum," Kintner says. Both the number and intensity of radio flares will increase and could drown out GPS signals during this period, he says.

This may be a problem for aircraft navigation as the FAA uses reference GPS receivers on the ground for air traffic control. Kintner says these "will certainly fail" during these intense solar flare radio bursts, which could produce noise drowning out signals. Although planes can fly without GPS, outages force the FAA to increase the distance between aircraft and slow take-offs and landings, delaying flights.

GPS is also used for emergency rescues and also to synchronise power grids and cellphone networks. One solution, says Kintner, would be to increase the strength of GPS signals. But this would mean redesigning GPS satellite hardware and software

Google Earth For Monitoring the Climate Change

Thats the first word that came up from my lips when I received the newsletter form Google Earth.

You know what?

As we have known, Google Earth not only allows you to view satellite and aerial photography, but also contains 3D terrain of the Earth. If you tilt your view while looking at any part of the Earth with mountains or canyons, you will see the terrain in three dimensions. (Make sure you've turned on the terrain layer, otherwise everything will appear flat.)

You can also use the line and polygon tools to draw on the surface of the Earth. You can also use more advanced KML features such as the ability to show time animations to convey more powerful visualizations.

One Google Earth Community member (a 'Bzoltan' from Hungary) recently posted a Google Earth file showing what might happen if you raised the level of water around the world by up to 100 meters. After you download the file , GE will fly to a view over San Francisco. Hit the "Play" button on the time slider (the triangular right-arrow to the right of the slider) to start the animation. Or, just grab the slider and slide it back and forth to see the effects. The animation shows the water rise from 1 to 100 meters. This is a simple water rising model, which is not a scientific method, but it gives you a rough approximation of the impact.

So, for you who are interested in monitoring the trend of our erath condition will be, you can just play with. Once again, it is not scientific method yet, but at lerast you can see how would your earth be if you raise up the water about 100m above the recent condition.

GPS, a New Enternainer For Kids

Now again, suprising me a lot, when I got an email from my friend, Mike Sanders who is working at one of Market Survey company in the US.

Here is the summary of the report:

The survey of more than 3,000 was conducted in April by Decision Analyst on behalf of U.S. electronics retailer Circuit City Stores Inc. With the summer travel season looming on the horizon, the survey also questioned parents as to what electronics devices were important to take on a family car trip.

Not surprisingly, with entertaining children factored in, GPS navigation fell in importance compared to entertainment devices and mobile phones.

The results clearly spotlight parents priorities in keeping children occupied in the car:

98 percent rated a cell phone as very or somewhat important.
71 percent rated a portable or in-car DVD player as very or somewhat important.
57 percent rated portable video games as very or somewhat important.
53 percent rated GPS navigation as very or somewhat important.
52 percent rated a notebook computer as very or somewhat important

Cencus Data in Google Earth

A very sorry to my blog reader, lazy to blog for a quite long time, I am working just around the clock, riding on the wheel never stop, happy to be with my kids arsya and kamila. In this posting I just cut, paste and add a comment adapted from GE Update. Try to do some further study on it, collecting some others reference for it.

A Stanford University PhD student recently gained world-wide Internet fame by publishing an innovative visualization tool called gCensus for showing US census data in Google Earth. Not only that, but he won some free hard drives so he could expand the database to cover more cities and states. Although the availability of many megabytes of census data from the US Government is a great resource, the tools for visualizing the data are limited. Normally you would need an expensive GIS application to visualize the data properly. Imran Haque decided to write some tools to process the data for visualization in Google Earth. He started with just three states (California, Pennsylvania, and Oregon).To try out the application, launch the gCensus web interface. Choose the data source you want to map in the left-hand pane. Next follow the instructions on the right-hand pane to navigate through the application. In the final step, you'll see a link asking you to "Click here to download your map". Click on this and it should load into Google Earth and show you a visualization of the census data you've selected. If we can adapt this study to our schema here, we can reduce some big budget and avoiding the overlapping project among the government department as it happened for longtime.

Again, spent my weekend with my beloved hubby, Arrie by browsing the Google Earth, now, the 4th version has been realeased and some of the 3D model of Jakarta have been settle up on ( especially at Sudirman Street) will be written on my next post.

Location Base Services (LBS) Has Been Implemented at Stockholm Subway (Tunnelbana)

Personally, my family has a very close relationship with Stockholm. We started our life there, delivered my old son Arsya, study and others at our early time together.

Read the GPS world, Appear Networks and Cisco Inc. update, really make me impressed. As I knew, last time I was there, the LBS techniology has not been implemented at Stockholm Subway (tunnel bana).

The Stockholm Tunnelbana has three lines encompassing 110km of track and 100 stations of which 64km and 55 stations are underground. Several of the deep underground stations are cut into solid rock which were left with cave-like ceilings. The builders carved fascinating artistic objects out of the rock.

Google Earth Gets Overlay Search Feature

Google Inc. has created a searchable index of Google Earth data files, a feature that should make it easier for users to find and adopt third-party overlays for this popular mapping application.
Google Earth's search engine now returns KML (Keyhole Markup Language) files which developers have created to add data to the application's maps, the Mountain View, California, company said Wednesday.

"Users can now search through all of the world's KML files, making the millions of Google Earth layers on the Web instantly accessible for geobrowsing and exploration," wrote Chikai Ohazama, a Google Earth product manager in an official company blog. Google expects to later extend this capability to its mapping Web site Google Maps, Ohazama wrote.

Google Earth is a free, downloadable PC application that taps a multiterabyte database of aerial and satellite images to let users "fly" around the globe using a video-game type user interface. By creating overlays in the KML file format, users can create markers to pinpoint places and provide all sorts of information about an area, making Google Earth a repository of local business listings, homes for sale, photos, architectural drawings, videos, historical facts and geographical data.

KML users range from casual, individual users to large organizations like Discovery Networks, the U.S. National Park Service, the Smithsonian Institution and National Geographic. KML can also be used to add data files to Google Maps, a mapping Web site that is one of the most popular among developers for creating mashups, which are Web applications that use data and features from an existing site or online service via application programming interfaces (APIs).

Better Accuracy on Google Earth by SPOTIMAGE

Spot Image has entered into an agreement with Google in order to improve the available resolution of Google Earth products over wide areas of the world.

Under a multi-year agreement, Spot Image will provide Google Earth with 2.5 meter resolution imagery taken from the SPOT 5 satellite.

As of January 22, users will be able to see new high resolution satellite images on Google Earth for various European areas including France, Belgium, Luxemburg, Spain and Portugal.

Hamburg Port City - The 1st 3D on Google Earth

Anyone who is friendly dealing with Google Eart will be no longer exited by wacthing the 1st 3D visualization on it. You will be able to take a virtual tour of Hamburg port city. Soon, in the next few week,s - downtown of Hamburg port city will take a bow as Google's fitrst vieable 3D city. Hamburg isnt the first city to be rendered in 3D. Cyber city has already created 3D versions of Paris and Florence so did with Postdam.

Remote Sensing Solution has rendered Berlin, Munich and other German Cities in 3D, but Hamburg will be the first metropolis available to anyone who has downloaded Google Earth's free softwre.

The approach is fundamentally different from Google 's main rival, Microsoft, which wants to offer a similiar 3D versions of cites on its own mapping service, Virtual Earth. Instead of using uploaded photos from users, though, Microsoft simply bought a company that specializes in gathering such image.

Christchurch - New Zealand

Have a chat with my old friend Amalia who is studying political science at Canterbury University, sent me to 5 -6 years ago, when I was still single, worked for a big navigation provider company.

Christchurch, the biggest city in south island of New Zealand, my impression with much of the city being flat and only a few metres above sea level, spectacular views can be obtained from almost any high building. At low elevations the city may appear almost forested with only a few buildings visible, unlike a major city.

The location of CHC is about

Latitude: 43° 31 Mins, 48 Secs South

Longitude: 172° 37 Mins, 13 Secs East

Spent my weekend at Kaikaroa, watching the Whales Dancing Attraction, Diving in Akaroa, Have a dinner at Willowbank Natural Park, and also Dux de Lux with no beer of course.

The only mosque at Deans Street. Jogging at Hagley Park, surrounding with artist who was painting and dancing in front of catedral square.

As we have known that the Government of NZ was very concern about the education, we can find some tertiary university in CHC, there are: Canterbury University, Lincoln University, CHC Polytechnic Institute of Technology and Otago Univesity specially for Medicine Fact.

It's really still fresh in my mind.

Hopefully I can visit CHC again one day.

Domain Theft - Protect Your Domain Name (Part 2)

Your domain is YOU on the internet and not many people realise that it may be at risk of theft. It's a fact that many people leace themselves exposed to the risk of doamin name theft, when all they need to do is take a few simple steps to signifanctly reduce the potential problem.

The two weakness when you have you own domain are:
1. You are only allowed to use one email address as teh Administration control email, loose your control email means loose your domain too.
2. None of the details that are given to a domain name registrar are checked in anyway, this is wide open to abuse and allows a potential tief to operate freely, really suprisingly!

So, what you can do to protect your domain name?

First, do not ever use a free email address as you Admin email address, always use a regular POP email address in every case, it may not be quite as convenient but itismore secure.

Second, be prepared to register you domaik name more than one year, the longer is the better.

Third, change you password regularly, every six month or you can manage by your self for the most suitable time, but the max is 6 month if I can advice. Sooner is better.

Forth, do not ever use a very common password, such as you birthday, you children's name etc.

Fifth, Always lock the name you register with the Domain name Registrar and use WHOIS (an internet database that provides information on a person or an organization) guard.

Sixth, keep a hard copy of all you details and password then you are covered when you notebook goes down.

By taking those six simple step, you will be able to signicantly increase the security of your domain name, hopefully.

As always, Arrie my hubby brought me tones of magazine and books coming back from his travel to UK.
There was on interesting title when I read Making Money Magazine, it’s about Domain Theft written By Paul Rigby on Making Money, January 2007, to be on your alert I think, for the one who did much in online biz

Here I try to re-explain what I understand about the domain theft means was, how this can happen and how to avoid it?

As we know that many individual and businesses have a website but few understand their rights to the ownerships of that site or their responsibility to maintain that ownership. Some companies have cried out ‘foul!’ that their website have been stolen directly after they logged on the internet to look at their website and something completely different appeared.

When you create a website there are three costs involved:

You spent some money to purchase the domain or URL.

You purchase a hosting package. This is the money you pay to rent the space in one of thousand web servers

You pay to have your website created and maintained by a website designer of you choosing. Or you can ignore this cost coz many people did it by them self.

Whether you or someone else purchases the domain name of you website, make certain that you have the contact details from the company it was purchased from and the corresponding username and password to access control over the domain’s use.

Most importantly, make sure you are listed as the registered owner of the website and that the privilege has not been handed over to the person or company that is creating you website for you. Your web administrator can be listed as the technical contact or administrative contact but you need to be listed as registered owner.

This was, if any changes are made to the status or the domain, you are informed as well and you should be notified when the domain name is about to expire.
This is how many businesses website are stolen, the owner is not listed, you didn’t know that you rent period has been expired, it is concerned as a victim of ignorance. (to be continued )

I think, reading is everybody's hobby. I remembered my dad, took me to one biggest bookstore named El - Mundu in Cirebon on his pay day.

I can buy everybook that I want with one promise, I 'll re-tell the story or the book to my dad, and not comic!

Oh dad, How I missed that moment! Luv you dad!

Whats a pity, never have a good library till I studied at university here in Indonesia, dont know why just never have what I need, even never touched and saw the book ads in Amazon come to my univ. library.

Thanks GOD! for sending me to Germany and Sweden, it is really a book addict palace! Talk to your professor then It'll come. A very comfortable library, where I can spent hours there. Married with Arrie, one of the hardest book addict I 've ever met! Maybe, that's why the soulmate means to be:)

My friend just already called me, offered her books, but finally she offered me to be one of her sales(woman), it is not a joke, most the books that were offered now have been arranged nicely in my book cupboard. Good offer I think, when I can get much more discount and I can share whats wonderful books inside.

Some people said that buy a book is not spent your money for useless but for an investment, sounds good! My son Arsya is growing up as book addict and Kamila is either.

Mmh...seems that its time to change from Book Addict to Book Sales(woman) .

Google SketchUp - Model your world

Spent my weekend by googling the google it self. Whats stupid I am! When realized that I didnt realize about the new baby born of Google Family. Goodle Sketch Up, for now it has been at its sixth realese, it is still in Beta stage but what I found is, a free 3D CAS lisenced software. As Google Eart Addict, it is a pleasant surprise, as I know as a free software, Google Earth combine with Google sketch up are an exceptional tools to model the world form anywhere you work. Doesnt need any expensive licensed software ( just dont talk about the software piracy in Indonesia! )

I still remember when I spent much more hours sat down at my 3D lab, doing skecthing with a very precise and accurate measurement, combining a colour and thinking about the picture speed, and when I have to stay for a night at my 3D lab just to convince than I was successfully rendered my skecth and uploaded to flash player. It was my first 3D film I've ever done, a little house near the beach with 2 lovely VW Car.

Now, I try to find out what was the Google Sketch Up:

The state of the earth of Space Imaging Technology has beyond our imagination. None can predict what our properties would be, if it is easily to be accessed. A suggestion, the government should arrange the regulation about it.
Imagine like The 3rd Mission Impossible where Mr. Cruise easily access someone private property without any owner suspiciousness and control.

Got email from my old friend today, happy to hear that she is doing much biz in aromatherapy. Just remind me on somehting I experienced in about 2 years ago. My friend in Germany, during her pregnancy, in the month 7th, the doctor told her that her baby in miss position, he suggested to take aromatherapy treatment to stimulate the baby move to her posititon.

First time I heard, is it true? that the aromatherapy can rotate your baby? Stupid question.
Two day after, I accompanied her to the hospital, after all medical adminstration stuff, then the therapy started.

Mmh..smell like chineese candle "hio" nothing special in the room, but the smell was so suck!
But.... two hours after, she just shouted! Very painfull! THE BABY MOVED! THE BABY MOVED!

Hah, I missed my Blog a lot!
I was very busy for the last two weeks, prepared my company bidding to the Oil Company. Not easy although it is not also not difficult.
As always happened at the end of the day, we got very stress to decide how much is the price of our quotation. When we win, we do regret : why should be this price, what if we can increase little bit more, we'll get more margin on it.
When we lost, we do regret: why shoud be this price, what if we can decrease little bit more, we'll be the winner!

Regret never happened in advance, always happen in the last occurance.

What was a regret?

Regret is often felt when someone feels sadness, shame, or guilt after committing an action that the person later wishes that they had not done. Read the book of Safir Senduk, "who said that being employee can not be rich? " indonesian version. It isreally impressed me, with an easy reading book now we can deploy all the stuck and messy wired management. Usually in procument management world call as supply chain.

As always happen ini every month, we were confuse to manage our money, although we are not the one who had low income but saving money is a hard job. We found a defisit case on the end of the month:)
Now, I try to evaluate, the things that can help us to save our money, adapt from Safir Senduk's book and some tips from some website.

Save your money at the beginning of the month, dont forget to pay insurance, credit card, you personal load then monthy expenses.
Think about future, now widely known famous pension management, you can manage how much money you want to get after you are 55years old? be aware about the inflation.
Be aware for hidden waste, what was that, be wise that cell phone is not purposed for long distance call, use you home phone or go to public phone services where you can pay in advance.
Watch you credit card, use you credit card in porper time and way, dont ever think that you credit card is Money Goodess, once you are late to pay, remenber 3% charge.
Plan low cost family vacation
Become a smart shopper, leave you credit card at home, make a note of your expenses list and dont be out of the list
Keep a tight rein of your budget

Hope those tips can help us to save our money in the future.

Time Management

We have 24 hours a day, but a repeatedly question: That’s not enough!
How comes?
Have you managed your time well? Yes
Have you managed your work well? Yes

All those stupid questions are should be answer wisely. Time Management skills are essential for successful people - these are the practical techniques which have helped the leading people in business, sport and public service reach the pinnacles of their careers.

My experience, I worked for 8 hours a day, but there is time in between when I don’t have any idea to do this or that. Sometimes, the internet connection availability is a disaster when we add on Yahoo Messenger while we are working. We just keep chatting and browsing otherwise our work become overload.

Starting with scheduling your daily activity will help much you time management. Here I adapt from the book of: Make Time For Success

Scheduling is the process by which you look at the time available to you, and plan how you will use it to achieve the goals you have identified. By using a schedule properly, you can:

Understand what you can realisticaly achieve with your time;
Plan to make the best use of the time available;
Leave enough time for things you absolutely must do;
Preserve contingency time to handle 'the unexpected'; and
Minimize stress by avoiding over-commitment to yourself and others.

Hopefully we can be wiser then!

I said: 2 million rupiah
My Hubby: If it is a used one?
I said: I don’t know, not my interest in used one or new one, my interest is how much data does it have in? more valuable I think..

GPS or Global Positioning Systems now known well as a survey gear, guiding us to find the place we will visit to or to reconstruction the place you ever experience in, now, many applications has been applied. From fisherman to the President, from Boy Scout to the military general.

GPS as I know, now not only belongs to US, since the Galileo, the EuropeanGPS, be aware that The Galileo project calls for developing and launching a network of satellites that would reduce Europe's dependency on the GPS system. The Galileo positioning system is a proposed satellite navigation system, to be built by the European Union (EU) as an alternative to NAVSTAR (which is controlled by the United States military) a The system should be operational by 2010, two years later than originally anticipated.
As I know Galileo is intended to provide:
Greater precision to all users than is currently available.
Improved coverage of satellite signals at higher latitudes, which northern regions such as Scandinavia will benefit from.
A positioning system upon which European nations can rely even in times of war or political disagreement.
Back to NAVSTAR GPS, one interesting point when I read an article from http://www.useu.be/ when Mr. Bell from US Mlitary Dept. warn the EU. If the Galileo signal directly overlays the GPS M-code signal, he warned, "jamming one would also jam the other, resulting in a negative impact on NATO's military effectiveness in the area of operations, potentially risking fratricide on friendly forces and civil populations."
I am waiting to the coming of 2010.

This morning I got a newsletter from www.balitacerdas.com , it is really interesting topic to be discussed among moms.
If your answer of above question is YES, good!
But, please look toward to the second condition, does you children keep answer of his curiosity or just ignore it, leave it away and change to other question.
If your answer is: Yes my children keep asking me about the same topic but in different thing, means that your children is really…really…smart, keep watching on her! Cause you need pay more attention.
You need to guide her to focus on the topic keep guiding her, remember with Pascal Triangle? Make it sharper in every stage! Be aware!

You must facilitate her to increase and enriching her capability, reading is one great gate to her throne. No matter what she reads but please be focus on how she reads. The Reading activity is really influenced her thinking way, and later then will be impacted to her intellectuality.

We must stimulate her after read some books, ask her to tell you what she has read, make a quiz, and play with. It is the further step to trigging her.

Don’t ever force her to read a special topic you are interested in, but, let her choose.
Remember, if you make you children fall in love in reading, means you give her the world.

There are several documents that refer to the special clothing used for the babies of ancient times. Milkweed leaf wraps, animal skins, and other creative natural resources, a far cry from today's disposable diapers. The Egyptian, the Aztec, the Romans, and many others, who left documentation of their day to day activities, mention its use. Its need covers all segments of the population, from princesses to beggars.

This is one of the very first items that distinguished man from animals, believe it or not! ; Infants have been "wrapped in swaddling bands" in many European societies since antiquity. Swaddling bands were strips of linen or wool that were wrapped tightly around each limp and then crosswise around the body (like many Yoga advocates still do in India). For almost a week, my son Arsya has said “bye –bye’ to his diapers. I think he got trauma with hairy worm bitten. About a week ago, he was playing with ‘mama’ his grandma, by accident, mama found hairy worm and showed to him, my son get very surprise cause it was his first time to see hairy worm, about 30 minutes later, his body became itchy, got many red spot (Biduren, Javanese) and swollen . GOD! He was fussy all day through. Then his baby sitter swiped him with petrol to avoid another red spot. Take a bath and smeared with Caladine Lotion. Alhamdulillah, thanks GOD, he became calm down, and sleeping.

Starting that moment, he did want to wear diaper anymore, he feel very scare when he saw his penis swollen. He thought that the diapers caused his penis swollenJ. We just happy, to see it. My son getting mature, at his age, night sleeping without diapers and urine expelled in his bed is a quantum leap in his mental and physical development.
My additional task is binging him in the middle of the night and ask him to pipi. For first one and two days it is hard job, and he was objection by saying : please bunda no…

Soya Milk

It has been almost a month, I am the regular cunsomer of Soya Milk, every morning after arrive at my office, Tyo my friend, will delivery me two pouch of milk, one for me and another one for my two cute children, Arsya & Kamila. Usually, I save the soya milk for my children in my office fridge, while for me, I prefer to drink when it's still warm. Something funny, my son always call it with : Soya Juice!
He thinks that the milk only come from cows not ever from Soya.

Here I adapt from Soya , how to make your own soya milk at home. Can be tried as a weekend break, Thanks GOD it's friday:)

It's very easy to make soy milk at home. If you make soy milk on a daily basis you might find a soy milk maker (or soy milk machine such as Soyajoy, Soylife, Miracle...) very helpful.

Step1: IngredientsYou need about 125 g whole soya beans to make 1 liter of soy milk.

Step2: Soaking and dehulling the soya beansClean the soya beans and soak them in water for 10 - 16 hours. Although not necessary, you can remove the hulls be kneading the soya beans and flushing the loose hulls with water. Removing the hulls makes the extraction process more efficient. An alternative is to crack the soya beans before soaking. The hulls comes easily loose and can be washed away. When you use cracked soya beans you need less soaking time: 6 - 8 hours.

Step3: Heating the soya beans (optional)Heating the soya beans will destroy enzymes which are responsible for the development of beany flavour. This heating can best be achieved by microwaving the wet soaked soya beans during 2 minutes.

Step4: Grinding the soya beansGrind the soaked soyabeans and 1 liter water in a blender. Sieve the mixture trough a cheese cloth and recover the soy milk. The insoluble material which remains on the sieve is called okara, and can be used as an ingredient for bread making or as cattle feed.

Step5: Boiling the soy milkHeat the soy milk till boiling point and continue boiling for about 5 to 10 minutes. After cooling, the soy milk is ready and can be kept in the fridge for another 3 days.

Step6: Flavouring the soy milk (optional)The soy milk can be drunk as such but taste can be improved by adding some salt (also cow milk contains a lot of salt).With soy milk you can easily make your own fruit smoothie. Fruit smoothies are very healthy because they contain soy milk and a lot of fresh fruits.

Create a new you, whether with little step or giant leaps it just a choice.
Thinking hard to decide whether work at the office or work at home, while my children are still 2 years old and 10 months old. Dont know but I always have a hard feeling to leave them along with their grandma and baby sitter. I know, they need me a lot so do with their daddy, to accompany them reading a book, watching film, playing and also sleeping:)

Sure, they are happy showered with love and care from their grandma and babysitter. But, do they quite patient waiting for me, their mom, for almost 8 hours?

Everytime I go home, I always see their eyes that they miss me a lot. None can plead them to stay away from me although only for a while, they never give me a chance even only a little bit break, to take a bath, straighten out my feet, a long and deep breath. Coz they miss me a lot!

I have to create a new Me! Leave this job and make a manuver to be a WAHM, Work At Home Mom.
I have been inspired after joining Bunda In Biz ( mom in business) Community. This community really encourage me to do a different thing, the thing that I should do for my family. Working at Home! at my home! at my family home!

While working I can watching my children, thats what I want! My dream. I can share my jobs to others, to give and share my happiness with others. To be an entepreneur! Entepreneur Mom!

Pizza’s and the Google Earth

This morning, when I visited Google Earth, just remember what had I got 4 years ago and really happy with I have found on GE.

Still fresh in my mind when Mr. Freckmann, My Professor delegated us, the new student of Geomatic Engineering 2002 to design and constellating the new Pizza’s shop in our city, Karlsruhe.
“Whats?” Said my Pakistani Friend Ahsan, “how comes we can put on the pizza shop in very attractive and competitive place? While we’re not the marketing man? “
“Good question”, said Peter ( my prof’s little name, my fave). Then we sat together, thinking hard how to place the pizza shop on our map. Many opinions, many argumentation, but going to the conclusion that “IT IS NOT DIFFICULT TO PLACE THE PIZZA’S SHOP ON OUR MAP, ON ITS BEST PLACE”
So, share the team become 2 (two), 1 team looking for social’s data e.g.: demographic data, and the other team designing the nice map, then we can combine all those collected data to be a GIS (Geographic Information Systems). Great! Peter, clapped his hand!

I was in the second team, designing the map. What we’ve made is a very technical and theoretical map. It’s really good but not good looking, not eye catching, don’t know why, may be coz none of us who came from art or none of us who had art touch.
Just really technical map!

After one week we sat again in the same room, but now with the data that was ready to compile. Then what’s happen?
Great! It’s really happened. We can now saw on the map, where was the best place to put on our new Pizza’s shop. We can now, where were the area that was placed by school, university and the municipality that has a very density population. Can not imagine!

That’s 4 years ago; now, we can use Google Earth a 3D model can be viewed directly with its accuracy 1 meter (especially for US and west Europe). Still with the same data I got 4 years ago, I can put on the Pizza’s shop there, just a right click action to put it on. Exactly in the same coordinate I got.
And last night, I got the information that GE has put out a new vector database with an updated Google Earth Community Forums layer. This data was a snapshot from August 18th, so if you've posted a placemark on the GEC before then, it should now show up. We've rewritten the crawl for this data and should be able to update it more often in the future.

Dora and Maps
As if I could make my map like Dora's map

Like a morning habit, every 7AM on ANTV, channel 8 at my home, my son has sit up nicely and ready for Dora.
Once I wacthed Dora is really interested, we can interact actively. Dora the Explorer is a half-hour animated children's television series starring a 7-year-old Latina girl and her friends. The show is designed to actively engage preschoolers in a play-along, computer-style adventure. Dora teaches many things, about, solving the problem when she and boots got lost, basic English and Spanish, gym, counting, jumping, rowing, clapping, etc.

I graduted from Geodetic Engineering and working closely with maps. I think Dora is one of great point to make maps as an interesting things. When I was at elementary school, dont know why but maps is only one of bored things. Never love to map but I was trapped to Geodetic Eng. when entry the university degree and force me to love map. I know map both theoritically and practically as its application. Thanks GOD, finally I love to work with map. And love to Dora! As if I could make my maps like Dora's map

Now, widely famous online map is Google Earth, we can observe and explore the GE as many kind of purpose. The latest news is we can use elevation model on the GE where we can know exactly the high of our area above mean sea level with the accuracy about 16 m. WOW!

When I went to Geospatial Exhibition at JHCC last week, one of big company like Intermap has explored the GE and their output product is Map with its accuracy about 30 cm of course the add some additional data, but I got the information that the data is world bank's aid so we can get it for free, unfortunately until now, I cant get any resoruce how to get this data. So, when the map is very important, might be interesting, and got for free :)

I hope that one day I can be like Dora. Dora, is a problem solver who doesn't give up when faced with obstacles. She's a caring friend always ready to stop and help someone in need; and she's an adventurer whose curiosity and spirit lead her to explore the world. Dora's a role model not only for children, but for adults, too!

Educational Toys increase your children’s IQ and EQ

My 2 years old son Arsya was twisting his hand just trying to deliver one wooden red circle from one pile to another pile. He is really enjoying playing wire game, while his little sister Kamila, 10 month also trying to catch another wooden blue box from the other pile. Sometime they quarreled to catch the wooden ball or box, but they learn how to share and give in.

As a parent, it’s been guaranteed that we want to see our children to be a sholeh and smart person in the future. Now, we now about IQ, EQ and ESQ, sure we’ve known about all those magical ‘Q’. We have to emphasize that learning is not an inevitable boring process, socializing with their friend is not a scary thing if we can nicely interacting with their neighborhood, family and etc, but all those process should be presented in enjoyable enrichment or their human self.

Talking about IQ and EQ, there are so many modern methods of teaching, so many developmental approaches toward children education, that making the right choice is sometimes overwhelming for the parents and as the result – for the children. But all educators and parents agree that the most natural and therefore the best way for the children to learn is through play means socializing.

Educational toys, developmental games and learning materials are among the most significant ingredients in the recipe to make learning fun. Try to use your child’s favorite method of learning – playing, not sitting in a class, your child will develop more rapidly, more intensive. He will expand his vocabulary and amaze the parents by his mind, creativity and inventions. It’ll be better if we can also invite some or his friends joining this game. Most of educational toys were designed as a group game. How to make the right choice of toys and games? Start from simple books and educational toys, than gradually move to more complex educational games, science activities and puzzles. Follow your child’s interests – pirate games, dinosaur’s activities, electronic playground, play dough animals or marble run construction will inspire his inventiveness, imagination and creativity. Expand their intelligence by introducing the children to math, language, music, art, science, history and geography. Let your boy or girl express him or her in arts and crafts, making music, building a castle or searching for bugs. Create fun environment to make your child mind strong, body strong, people strong, self strong. One most important is to support your children in developing their IQ and EQ.

Now, in Indonesia, we can find educational toys easily, but the prices is still too expensive, I think it‘s still for high end level target. Butik Medina, that was the name which I gave to my boutique, Medina was grabbed from the name of City Medina, the holy city of Moslem, Hope the Medina City blessing will encourage me to do more and more expanding and enriching my boutique :)

Actually, it has been long..long time ago I eager to open a boutique at home, but... as always, I am just a lazy person and many things unuseful consideration to do. My hubby always get stucks with my reason why I just not to talk and stop dreaming, do it now! now!.....

What's Marriage Means?

When couples complain that they're not communicating, they don't realize that wives and husbands can't not communicate. But are you still communicating, even when neither of you is talking? Absolutely! Communication doesn't require either party to utter a single sound. In fact, you can sometimes communicate louder in silence than you ever could with words.
Imagine the following scenario: You are walking down the street, when a stranger knocks you down and steals your bag. You are terribly upset when you arrive home, and very much in need of your partner's attention. However, after you breathlessly finish telling your spouse about your awful experience, he says nothing. Then, he proceeds to bury his head in a newspaper.
Is your spouse communicating something through his wordless response? You bet he is, and there's probably nothing positive for you in that message.
Perhaps your partner is saying that he doesn't really care about what happened to you. Maybe he's too caught up in his own concerns, or he doesn't know how to respond to yours. Maybe he's just too upset to talk, because he feels powerless to do anything to help you. In any case, that kind of silent communication sends a message that is as loud as any shout.
Communication is about a lot more than talking. Many essential messages are transmitted through attitude, facial expressions, and body language — as well as through words that are left unsaid. Communication is also physical. Your spouse can convey a message of affection by gently touching your hand. However, if he squeezes your hand to the point of pain, that may be a very different kind of message.
To become an effective communicator, you have to pay close attention to what your partner is telling you through his moods, attitudes, gestures, movements, and actions. The flip side of this skill is recognizing the non-verbal messages you yourself are transmitting. You can sharpen your non-verbal communication skills by using the steps in the following sections.
Watch for changes in mood and attitude
Is your normally effervescent spouse suddenly down in the dumps? Is he distracted and forgetful in ways you haven't observed before?
These changes can be signs that there are things going on in your partner's life (or psyche) that he doesn't wish to discuss — at least not now. Still, you may want to say something like, "Honey, I've noticed that you haven't been your usual cheerful self lately." If she still won't address these changes with you, make a written or mental note of these shifts in behavior. Try to remain watchful of how they play out in the days and weeks to come.
It can be difficult to see yourself with the same objectivity you apply to others. But communication is always a two-way street, especially in marriage. That's why it's important to monitor your own tone of voice, attitudes, and other nonverbal behaviors with the same sharp eye you use to observe your spouse.
Tune into body language
Is your spouse making direct eye contact or avoiding your gaze? In general, a person who looks you directly in the eye is assumed to be forthright and truthful. On the other hand, a person who averts his eyes may not want you to know what he's thinking.
You can glean similar information by observing the way your partner's body reacts when you ask him a question. Is his body position relaxed and open, or tense and withdrawn?
In general, a person who maintains a relaxed, open bearing when you ask a direct question tends to be forthright and truthful. On the other hand, a person whose body suddenly becomes rigid may be concealing something.
Look for signs of nervousness or tension

The rules of interpreting body language and other non-verbal clues are well known to salespeople and others who are skilled in the art of persuasion. A good sales agent, for example, may be able to look you directly in the eye while telling a bald-faced lie. He or she may also be practiced in maintaining a calm demeanor and conjuring up sincere-sounding laughter at will.

That's why it's wise not to draw any firm conclusion from any single clue. Instead, incorporate each non-verbal clue into the total picture of what your partner is communicating.
Double-check the meaning of gestures
Every gesture is a communication of some kind. But when each spouse assigns different meanings to the same gesture, it can cause friction in the relationship.
For example, a wife may call her husband at work twice a day because she wants to feel connected. However, the husband can interpret this gesture in a very different way. He may feel that his partner is checking up on him or trying to smother him.
You can easily misinterpret the meaning of a particular signal. Avoid such mistakes by taking the following steps:
· If you're at all unsure, ask your partner to explain her nonverbal communication.
· After you identify the emotion that provoked the gesture, work at addressing it.

Daddy’s hands were soft and kind when I was crying
Daddy’s hands were hard as steel when I’d done wrong
Daddy’s hands weren’t always gentle but I’d become to understand
There was always love in Daddy’s hands.

We remember Daddy’s hands working till they bled
Sacrificed unselfishly just to keep us all fed
If I could do things over, I’d line my life again.
